Mike Gallagher is a native New Yorker, born here in Manhattan, raised in Queens and Red Bank, New Jersey. After attending Harvard University, he volunteered on the campaigns of democratic Congressman Frank Pallone and Senator Frank Lautenberg.
Mike returned home to New York in 1992, and began a career in publishing. An avid interest in the emerging computer industry followed. While working as a systems analyst at Simon & Schuster, he met his wife Liate Stehlik. They were married in 1999, and had their first child, Michael, soon thereafter. As their family grew, they found a permanent home in Washington Heights. With kid #2 approaching, Mike decided to take on dad-duty full time. Jack and Thomas came next, and Catherine, the youngest, arrived in 2012. Mike knows what you know. Raising a family in this district is hard. Rents are too high, the price of milk actually matters to a family on a budget, and crime is still an issue in our community. He knows we need change. He knows we’d all like our lives to be little bit easier. He knows we want progress. That’s why Mike is running for Congress.
